The 2024
Scottish Construction Industry Salary Review Authors

Jamie Porter – Head of Building & Construction

Kirstin Marshall – Senior Recruitment Consultant

Welcome to Contract Scotland’s 2024 Salary Review!

We have changed things up a little this year, in more ways than one.  Since our inaugural Salary Review in 2016, Contract Scotland Director, Alan Shave, has taken the lead in compiling the report each year.  However, he decided that now was the time to freshen things up.  He has passed the baton to us to take the lead and bring a fresh perspective to the content and presentation of the review report.

With over 20 years of combined recruitment experience here at Contract Scotland, we’ve touched upon most corners of the Scottish Construction Industry and look forward to leading what is undoubtedly the most significant piece of research and analysis we produce as a business.  We’ve aimed to retain elements of the report that your feedback over the years has shown us to be the most valued insight, whilst adding a little more colour and detail in an effort to illuminate the key trends that our data points to.

We’ve also sought to publish the report in a different format, giving you quicker, easier access to the data you need within your specific sector:

  • Civil Engineering Contractors
  • Tier 1 Building Contractors
  • Tier 2 Building & Fit-Out Contractors
  • Housing & Property
  • Engineering & Cost Consultancies

Finally, we have always used your feedback to help refine and improve.  In particular this year we would welcome your input on the changes we have made.  Does the sector-specific format work for you?  Does the new report layout make sense and do you agree with our analysis?  We hope you find our report useful either as an individual or employer and we welcome the opportunity to engage with you further on our 2024 annual Salary Review.
