Aberdeen – Hot or Not?

A compelling article in yesterday’s Press and Journal, which suggests the Aberdeen property market is set for a period of turbulence given the difficulties facing the oil sector. This appears to conflict with the enormous levels of ムlive’ construction activity you see driving through the city and it certainly does contradict the volume of activity we witnessed while in the city again last week. Whilst many of the construction and housebuilding clients we met suggested it was ムbusiness as usual’ and demand for quality staff outstrips supply, some more recently have raised concerns over the significant drop in footfall through sales suites going to the extent of scaling down their expected production forecasts for 2016. Thankfully most clients remain positive that they will be able to weather the storm, however, severe and there appears to be a consensus that any ムpause’ will be short-lived.

On Saturday (7th Feb) we’ll be back in Aberdeen as one of the sponsors for the Aberdeen Association of Civil Engineers (AACE) Dinner and we’ll get a further temperature check from guests attending. With the new Aberdeen Bypass, rail enhancements from Aberdeen to Inverness and upgrading of routes throughout Grampian we doubt that they will be feeling the pinch.

It is our role as market leaders in housing and property recruitment to ensure our clients are equipped with market knowledge, trends and observations, particularly as we move into more volatile times. If you would like to discuss any aspect of our service, please do not hesitate to get in touch on 01786 446651 or via samantha.pettigrew@contractscotland.co.uk
