Kelly Mulholland and Gillian Graham attended last week’s Inspiration & Motivation Event at the Corinthian Club in Glasgow. ﾠIt was a well-attended event for young professionals looking to enter the construction industry. Lynne McKay of CIOB spoke about the CIOB and opportunity for student & professional membership.ﾠ
Derek Ferguson spoke about his journey in the industry from an Apprentice Joiner through to Strategic Operations Manager for Novus Property solutions. He was engaging and encouraging, whilst being realistic about the setbacks that every individual will face through their careers.
Matt Stewart from @entrepreneurme, a motivational speaker, discussed how to succeed in your chosen career. He mirrored Derek’s comments, that everyone will have setbacks, but it’s a judge of character on how we overcome these. He mentioned that employability is 20% ability and 80% ambition; an interesting concept!
The event was an opportunity for like-minded individuals to network with one another and a friendly informal environment where it was encouraged to speak with people you didn’t know.
