“Throughout the local authorities across Scotland we continue to see budgets being reviewed in order to bring into line the governments cost saving plans. Local authorities as a whole are in the process of reorganising their internal structures to accommodate new projects. One noticeable change that has occurred is that we are seeing more councils manage their own projects as opposed to traditionally bringing in consultancies to do this on their behalf. This as a result has brought with it the need for temporary staffing to cover these short-medium term projects.
It should be noted that owing to attraction to work on major & long term projects, candidate availability is notably scarce and as such Council’s should be aware that in order to attract the desired workers”
