Our client, a well-established civil engineering contractor in Aberdeen, is seeking a dedicated Contract Manager to join their dynamic commercial team. Renowned for their unwavering commitment to delivering work of the highest quality while prioritizing the health and safety of their workforce, they were honoured with the prestigious “Excellence in Health and Safety” award at the Trade Awards 2020.

The ideal candidate for this role will either have prior experience as a Contracts Manager on civils projects or come from an engineering background with a desire to transition into contract management. The company specialise in a diverse range of sectors, with a primary focus on water and multi-utility projects, including sewers, roads, drainage, concrete, hard landscaping, and maintenance frameworks.

As a Contracts Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and developing commercial opportunities at the tender stage
  • Preparing and submitting tenders
  • Establishing and nurturing new client relationships
  • Maintaining and strengthening existing client relationships
  • Developing effective short- and long-term project programmes
  • Producing monthly progress reports
  • Managing material resourcing, labour, and plant on-site
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
  • Monitoring project performance and implementing corrective action as needed
  • Conducting project close-outs and reporting findings
  • Developing and implementing the commercial strategy
  • Supporting the timely formulation and release of detailed management reports
  • Monitoring staff performance

The successful candidate should possess:

  • Minimum education to degree or HNC level in a civil engineering discipline
  • Previous experience in civil engineering, particularly in water and/or utility projects
  • Knowledge of health and safety policies
  • Methodical approach to tasks
  • Understanding of contracting principles
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills
  • Experience in building and maintaining good working relationships
  • Competence with all forms of contract and standard methods of measurement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driver’s license
