This is a great opportunity for an ambitious, hardworking and forward thinking Design Manager with proven experience with managing all design aspects of a project life cycle from tender / bid through to completion to join a company with values of collaborative working, developing their staff and promoting from within with a strong pipeline of work across both civil engineering and rail infrastructure projects and maintenance works.

You should have strong management skills with a team building, collaborative approach and will be responsible for:
• Team player – are you able to listen, understand and motivate / engage with confidence when making key decisions?
• Identify and raise Technical Queries for Information for design and BIM related items.
• Act as the main interface between the Design Consultant, the Project Team and the Client, to ensure the transparent flow of information
• Manage the design tracker to keep the client and project team updated on progress
• Agree the design programme and monitoring the progress of design
• Monitor the progress of design delivery against agreed programme
• Ensure change is identified and managed in accordance with the change procedure, working with the commercial teams and updating the program
• Review Remit documentation and establish design scope and responsibilities
• Ensure that the design is checked and certified appropriately, and that design decisions that have led to the proposed solution are recorde
• Identify site survey requirements and instruct supply chain accordingly
• Prepare the Design Brief and issue to the Design Consultant
• Review costs and ensure project risks are communicated

Applicants must have the following:
• Suitably qualified within a civil engineering or construction discipline
• Proven experience as a Design Manager in a multi-disciplinary rail contracting environment is essential
• A strong understanding of BIM
• Excellent communication skills due to the level of interaction associated with the role
• Keen eye for detail
• Excellent written communication and problem-solving skills
