Contract Scotland is currently collaborating with a well-established Groundworks Contractor boasting over 35 years of industry experience. With a secure order book, they are looking to expand their team by appointing a Graduate Quantity Surveyor in Glasgow.

About the Role:

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with a degree in quantity surveying or a related field to kick-start their career. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced quantity surveyors and other site management. With a well-structured commercial team in place, the company is equipped to invest in and develop a recent graduate or an individual with industry experience who is ambitious and eager to become an integral part of the team.

You will gain valuable practical, hands-on experience while contributing to the successful delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate Closely: Work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors on major construction projects.
  • Cost Estimation & Tender Documentation: Contribute to essential tasks, from cost estimation to preparing tender documents.
  • Procurement & Cost Control: Take on roles critical in procurement, cost control, and risk management.
  • Monitor & Control Project Costs: Ensure accurate tracking and management of project costs.
  • Identify & Manage Project Risk: Proactively identify potential risks and manage them effectively.
  • Budget Management: Ensure project success through meticulous budget management.
  • Client Relations & Documentation: Maintain smooth client relations and ensure precise project documentation.

Requirements:

  • Degree Qualifications: A degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in key cost-based software packages.
  • Interpersonal & Negotiation Skills: Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Driving License: Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
