Quantity Surveyor

Are you looking to take that step to join a National Housebuilder as an experienced Quantity Surveyor and help drive projects within Edinburgh?

We have an exciting opportunity for a hard working Quantity Surveyor to join a fast paced National Main Contractor who has plenty on their books to allow job security and longevity. Collectively, the company has an average annual turnover of over £800 million per year and has multiple sub divisions, some of which focus on areas such as High End Private Housing Developments, Timber Frame design and build and main contracting. This role specifically will be focused in their New Build Social and Affordable housing division and requires you to be a key commercial driver for a high profile site in Edinburgh.

To be successful, you will have a proven track record of working at a Quantity Surveyor level within a new build housing or main contracting environment working on relevant projects. Experience in other similar sectors may be considered. The role will require you to carry out typical duties of a Quantity Surveyor including but not limited to:

  • Financial and contractual control of building projects ensuring the company's interests are protected
  • Liaising with the operational management and advising on all matters relating to Contract and Commercial issues
  • Maintaining accurate financial control systems and reporting monthly on Cost/Value Reconciliation
  • Ensuring that all quotations are carefully vetted and comply with the specification
  • Ensuring that tenders are accurate and delivered on time

To be considered you must be degree qualified in Quantity Surveyor or equivalent, have experience of new build housing or commercial projects (roughly circa £5 million) such as student accommodation, care homes or prison new build etc. and good knowledge of sub-contractors and practices. You will be fully IT proficient and be familiar with cost management software and Excell. A strong commercial acumen coupled with excellent negotiation abilities is also essential.
