Recruitment Consultant

Do you already have experience in recruitment, or perhaps in a sales/relationship management environment?

Maybe you are just intrigued to learn more about a career in recruitment…?

We're looking to speak to you whether you already have direct recruitment experience or not, because finding someone with the right character/personality traits is more important to us than whether you've worked in recruitment before.

Then again, if you are currently working as a recruitment consultant, or have carried out the role in the past, you've got a head start! No doubt you've experienced meaningless sales/call targets and pressure to send irrelevant CV's as part of those roles. We don't have those KPI's' and we dont work to volume-based commission.

We also have our own experienced in-house finance/payroll and administration team, who'll take care of many of the tasks that burden recruitment consultants in other organisations, leaving you to focus on being a real' recruiter!

We're the largest independent provider of management/technical and support staff to the construction, engineering and property industry in Scotland. In 2018, we were named Scotland's Best Recruitment Consultancy' at the S1Jobs Awards.

You'll be joining what is already a high-performing and successful team, dealing with outstanding levels of repeat business and working with professional candidates and long-standing clients. You'll be paired to work with some of our most established Consultants, so you will get structured, thorough, and tailored training, to help you build on your career.

If you look across our recruitment team of almost 30 individuals, you'll see an average of 8 years' experience at Contract Scotland - this isn't a short-term thing, we have the ability to offer you a long-term future. You'll be mentored by some of the best in our industry.

So, on top of this, what are some of the other things we can give you?

  • Open plan office - everyone is accessible and we can listen/air our views.
  • Flexible Company car scheme - peace of mind that you don't have to pay insurance, MOT's, services, fixing your tyres…the list goes on!
  • Company-wide monthly meetings to discuss company performance and for you to contribute to the success.
  • Flexible working - ability to flex your day on the occasions you need to start late/finish early.
  • Be part of our annual Aiming for Better' survey - what do you actually think about working here and how could we all improve it further?
  • Comprehensive private healthcare insurance - access to healthcare/physios when you need it.
  • 28 days holiday, plus Christmas to New Year off on us!

If you are going to join us then you'll need to be sharp, self-motivated, confident, come with robust organisational skills, and will require particularly strong communication & social skills to build, maintain and enhance mutually beneficial working relationships, persuading and influencing at every step along the way. We don't cut corners here, so you'll also need an uncompromising attention to detail and the desire to meet the high expectations of both employers and jobseekers.

You'll need to demonstrate your ability in what will be a thorough interview process, but let's start with your CV. If you have recruitment experience already, we are keen to show you the unique approach Contract Scotland takes, and if you've never worked for another recruitment consultancy before, please tell us why this role interests you and what you might bring to us as part of your application. You should consider attaching a cover letter as part of your application - you might find that's a good opportunity to get your pitch' across to us!

In return you will be offered a competitive basic salary, quarterly bonus, company car/allowance, private health insurance, structured training, contributory pension, the use of a free holiday home and the chance to work with the best! We look forward to hearing from you.

Alan Shave
Associate Director

Joining the company as a fresh graduate in 2006, Alan has tried a bit of everything, whether that be cutting his teeth with the engineering consultancies, developing his career within temporary recruitment, sourcing permanent staff for many of the building contractors or helping create our international division. Armed with all that knowledge he jumped at the chance to lead our permanent recruitment section in 2014, with the challenge of growing the team and developing our offering, while making sure that the ‘Contract Scotland way’ remained at the heart of everything we do. In 2016 Alan took on the role of Associate Director and is now involved with all the fun strategy & operational stuff! His proudest achievement is taking the business to parts of the world we never thought we would, as well as helping some of our ‘newer’ colleagues develop into great recruiters.
