The number of rail jobs in Scotland has increased over the past few years, with major projects for new rail lines and stations, as well as improvements to existing railways and stations, which has resulted in a high demand for staff.
There are a number of ongoing projects in Scotland and we are consistently looking for individuals who are interested in working within the sector. Given the majority of these are in more remote locations, (along with the current skill shortages within the industry), clients are considering rail staff from throughout the UK for relocation both on a temporary and permanent basis.

Grant joined Contract Scotland in 2015 originally overseeing the freelance Design Consultancy & Energy markets and developed these sectors, seeing over 20% growth in his first year alone. Since then, he has taken on other divisions within the business and now also works with the Local Authorities, Client bodies and small to medium Civil contractors – so there is plenty going on! His continued aim is to provide a tailored, personable service to both client & candidate alike, whilst his “dad jokes” may not be his strength, his ability to provide an in-depth overview of the market in Scotland is and he looks forward to continuing to share his insight in the future. Amber embarked on her career with us in July 2015, and we’ve had the pleasure of working with her every day since! She was handed the reigns of the permanent SME Civils section and entrusted with maintaining and developing the relationships with our customers, both existing and new. It was a steep learning curve but having worked in recruitment previously she has been successful in doing so. One of the loudest in the office, (although she almost always has something of value to say), you’ll no doubt see her at networking events smiling like a Cheshire cat and telling the worst stories. Her biggest aim at present is to continue to work towards reducing the industry’s skills shortage. Click on the search icon below to view Laura's Jobs.
